Mobile devices used by employees have significantly increased organisations\u2019 security risks, said 95% of IT decision-makers surveyed by HID Global, while 83% said malware on employees\u2019 devices was the biggest cause for concern.<\/p>\n
More encouragingly, only 5% of survey respondents said their organisations had suffered security breaches in the last 12 months, and 86% already used two-factor authentication systems. And while around a third of organisations forbid or strongly discourage employees\u2019 use of personal cloud for business purposes, only 4% believed using personal devices to access cloud services was a concern.<\/p>\n
Away from the security findings, HID\u2019s research has also revealed a shift in organisations\u2019 priorities when it comes to authentication, according to Andrew Lintell, director of sales for identity assurance in EMEA for HID.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you look at some of the recent surveys when asking customers what their top decision criteria will be when choosing a new authentication solution, the most interesting thing for us\u2026 is for the first time user experience has jumped so far up the request list it\u2019s now second only to cost in people\u2019s decision-making criteria,\u201d said Lintell.<\/p>\n
\u201cSecurity, in terms of the hard level of security, is still very important \u2013 but the expectation now is it\u2019s there, it\u2019s secure, and that\u2019s that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
