The AKI Group (Al Khayyat Investments) is leveraging Paragon\u2019s routing and scheduling software to increase the efficiency of its transport operations. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AKI Group (Al Khayyat\nInvestments) has achieved annual savings of more than US$1 million by using\nParagon\u2019s routing and scheduling software to transform its in-house transport\noperation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company has improved\nproductivity and reduced costs since investing in the transport planning\nsolution by better managing its vehicles and drivers that operate across the\nUAE. By increasing average deliveries per vehicle by 164%, the AKI Group has\nbeen able to lower the average cost per delivery by 65% and reduce fleet size\nby 38%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cChanges in the economy of the UAE\nare forcing supply chain operations in the region to get more focused on cost\nsavings and improved productivity,\u201d said Gary Grindlay, Group Head of Logistics\nat the AKI Group. \u201cWe are bringing together the best technology solutions\navailable to address these challenges, with Paragon\u2019s routing and scheduling\nsoftware now a crucial part of our commitment to operational excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AKI Group processes around\n25,000 orders a month, typically equating to 12,500 deliveries each month to up\nto 5,500 customer sites across the UAE. The company recognised that manually\nplanning such a large multi-drop delivery operation was resulting in\ninefficiencies, so selected Paragon\u2019s routing and scheduling software to\nenhance the performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solution also includes Street\nLevel Mapping and Average Road Speed Data to achieve higher levels of route\naccuracy, as well as Route Execution to provide real-time visibility of the\noperation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having implemented Paragon\u2019s routing\nand scheduling software, the AKI Group saw significant operational improvements\nacross a number of essential transport KPIs. In particular, the company has\nbeen able to reduce the size of its fleet from 84 to 52 commercial vehicles,\nwhile average deliveries per vehicle increased from 4.7 to 12.4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solution is also enabling the\nAKI Group to better manage delivery volume peaks, which see around 45% of\norders being placed in the last four days of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transport operation provides\ndelivery services on behalf of a range of business units including retail,\nconsumer and healthcare. Within the UAE there are strict regulations governing\ncommercial vehicle usage for food, non-food and pharmaceutical loads, so the\nAKI Group operates a mixed delivery fleet with a number of multi-temperature,\ncompartmentalised bodies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transport team uses Paragon\u2019s\nrouting and scheduling software to automatically factor in vehicle restrictions\nwhen planning deliveries, so it can maximise capacity while achieving\nregulatory compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the adoption of the advanced\nrouting and scheduling software, the AKI Group has consolidated its planning\nresource into a centralised planning function. The team is responsible for\nmanaging all deliveries, monitoring the transport in real-time and analysing\nplanned versus actual performance to target continuous improvement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
