Saudi Arabia and the World Economic Forum are to set up a\nCentre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mohammed Al-Tuwaijri, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Economy and\nPlanning, and Klaus Schwab, WEF Executive and Chairman, signed the agreement\nfollowing meetings to discuss areas of joint co-operation between the Kingdom\nand the Geneva-based organisation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The centre will provide space for the development of the mechanisms,\nplans and applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the Kingdom and\nwill contribute to the adoption of technology and best practices in the region\nand the world,” read an issued statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saudi Arabia is forging ahead with plans to overhaul its economy to reduce\nits reliance on oil, through measures such as investments in advanced\ntechnology, to create jobs for nationals and diversify sources of revenue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kingdom has made investments in other tech ventures as\npart of its broader plan to transform the country into a high-tech investment\npowerhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Fourth Industrial Revolution is based on a number of\nareas, including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, the Internet of\nThings, robots, Smart Cities, governance, future shaping of technology and data\npolicy, automated mobility, unmanned aerial vehicles and the future of\nairspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
