The R\u00e9seaux IP Europ\u00e9ens\nNetwork Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC), the regional Internet registry for more\nthan 24,000 members across 78 countries, has participated in the 2019 edition\nof the annual e-AGE international conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was organised by the\nArab States Research and Education Network (ASREN) in Abu Dhabi, as part of its\nacademic capacity building initiatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Innovators, researchers,\nscientists, academics and businessmen were among the conference\u2019s attendees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During e-AGE, the RIPE NCC\ntook the opportunity to discuss the organisation and its mandate to the global\naudience explaining its main functions in the Middle East region, including\nproviding support for the infrastructure of the Internet through technical co-ordination,\noffering services for the benefit of the Internet community at large, and\nincreasing the deployment of IPv6 through various training and advisory programmes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The RIPE NCC provides a\nrange of measurement tools and services as well, to support the operations of\nits members who comprise academic and research networks, enterprise network\nowners, Internet Service Providers(ISPs) and\ntelecom operators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Yousef Torman, Managing Director of ASREN, said \u201cThe e-AGE conference had\nestablished itself as an important venue for networking among experts and\nscientists. This is in line with ASREN\u2019s\nbid to integrate the Arab e-infrastructure with the global environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cASREN welcomes the\npartnership with the RIPE NCC as a strategic move that could expand both our\nroles in further developing Internet connectivity in the region. The RIPE NCC\nprovides valuable support in our efforts to improve Internet connectivity for\nacademic and education networks in the Arab region and move our co-operation to\na higher level of co-ordination and integration\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chafic Chaya, Regional\nCommunications Manager, said: \u201cThis international conference was an ideal venue\nfor us to network with a broad range of global experts and relevant\nstakeholders to exchange information and best practices in research and\neducation networks in the Arab region and worldwide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
