<\/a>approach to cybersecurity risk mitigation in which governments, telecom service providers and technology vendors collaborate on industry guidelines-those that protect consumers and which also harness the economic potential of Digital Transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAccording to Huawei,\nthe topic is particularly timely as the roll-out of 5G services continues in\nthe Kingdom. Industries are already starting to benefit from the incredible\nleaps in bandwidth and network speeds provided by 5G. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is facilitating\nnew applications of Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, the Internet of\nThings (IoT), and augmented and virtual reality. Yet as these new services\nemerge in fields such as transportation, healthcare and banking, Huawei recognises that security demands can vary\nsignificantly across industries, and bespoke requirements are needed to support\nprivacy and data security. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn today\u2019s digital\nera, high-level decisions about security principles must be supported by both\npublic and private sector stakeholders. That co-operation is the only way to\nextend identity and location-data privacy, to strengthen identity management of\nconnected devices and to align user authentication standards within a Smart\nCity environment,\u201d said Purdy. \u201cThe challenge is that there are simply more\nstakeholders involved in these decisions than ever before. But it is a\nchallenge the world can overcome.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Purdy also\nacknowledged the efforts of government bodies in Saudi Arabia to improve their cybersecurity\ncapabilities and seek international co-operation. Saudi Arabia was, for\nexample, ranked 13th globally and first in the Arab world in the UN’s Global Cybersecurity\nIndex in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Huawei has long\ncommitted to helping partners in Saudi Arabia to address cybersecurity\nchallenges while building cutting-edge networks. Today the company serves over\n260 local partners in the Kingdom, around 14 ministries, and employs more than\n1,000 people across various offices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Huawei has also been\na partner of choice for telecom carriers in Saudi Arabia for 5G network\ndevelopment, helping to launch the largest 5G commercial network in the Kingdom\nin 2019 through a broad range of end-to-end solutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company works\nclosely with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT)\non talent development projects including the company\u2019s flagship Huawei Middle\nEast ICT Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing questions\nabout Huawei\u2019s cybersecurity credentials, Purdy emphasised that cybersecurity is a global issue for\nall countries, governments and companies. It is one of the reasons why Huawei\nhas launched Joint Innovation Centres in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East, working with\ntelecom operators, ministries, and enterprise partners to build secure\nsolutions that promote Digital Transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
