unWired Broadband begins NextGen Fiber installations in Gustine, CA

unWired Broadband, one of California’s leading high-speed Internet providers, has announced it has begun connecting customers to its state-of-the-art NextGen Fiber Internet network in Gustine, California.

Since construction kicked off in March 2025, unWired crews have been laying fiber infrastructure across the city with the result that the first customer was installed on June 6, 2025.

This investment marks a significant step forward for the city of Gustine. Funding for this project has been provided in part through a grant by the Last Mile Federal Funding Account, a programme administered by the California Public Utilities Commission. Once completed, the project will deliver blazing-fast Internet speeds of 5 Gbps to the entire city. Construction is on track for completion by September 2025.

“We’re thrilled to bring our NextGen Fiber to the Gustine community,” said Matt Murphy, CEO of unWired Broadband. “The support we’ve received here has been incredible, and it’s rewarding to see the first residents already enjoying what we’ve built together.”

Based in Fresno, unWired Broadband has been connecting rural and underserved communities across Central and Northern California since 2003. Their fixed wireless Internet network spans 200-plus towers across 17 counties, including an existing tower that already serves parts of Gustine.
