In return, the Department of Commerce would receive an equity stake through the issuance of US$100 million in D-Wave common stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funding would support research and development activities at D-Wave facilities in Boca Raton, Florida, New Haven, Connecticut and Burnaby, Canada. The company said the investment would help accelerate fabrication processes, expand quantum innovation and strengthen domestic technology supply chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Alan Baratz, CEO, D-Wave, described the proposed award as a transformative opportunity for both the company and the wider quantum computing sector. He said the funding would help scale innovation and deliver practical quantum applications to customers worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said the investment reflected the administration\u2019s commitment to advancing American innovation, creating skilled jobs and strengthening national quantum capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If final award documents are completed, D-Wave plans to accelerate development of a 100,000-qubit annealing quantum computer and a 10,000-qubit gate-model system.
