The company argues this model can shorten deployment timelines while strengthening security around sensitive spacecraft and their supply chains.

Combined with Spire’s existing production operations in the UK and Europe, the company said it now has capacity to manufacture between 300 and 400 satellites annually.

The expansion comes as governments increasingly seek sovereign space capabilities and more resilient domestic supply chains. For Spire, Boulder creates a US production hub capable of serving defence and intelligence missions without relying on overseas manufacturing infrastructure for critical spacecraft production and rapid deployment.

Spire Global has put its new US satellite manufacturing capability into orbit, launching the first three spacecraft built at its Boulder, Colorado facility as demand for domestically produced space systems grows across national security and defence.
