DigitalBridge, a global digital infrastructure investor, has signed an MOU with KT Corporation (KT’) one of South Korea’s leading telecommunications providers, to collaborate on developing next-generation AI data centres.
The agreement marks DigitalBridge’s first collaboration with a major South Korean telecommunications company and focuses on building large scale AI and cloud infrastructure in the country. The companies will explore AI factory–type data centres that could scale to gigawatt capacity and require multi billion dollar investment.
“With the surge in Generative AI, cloud adoption and global data demand, South Korea is rapidly emerging as a central hub for AI infrastructure in Asia,” said Marc Ganzi, CEO, DigitalBridge.
“Our collaboration with KT reflects our continued commitment to developing and operating next-generation digital infrastructure globally. South Korea’s strong connectivity ecosystem, technology leadership and policy support make it an ideal market for AI-era investment.”
DigitalBridge manages approximately US$108 billion in digital infrastructure assets globally and has built a comprehensive platform spanning data centres, fiber, towers and edge infrastructure. The collaboration with KT expands the firm’s regional presence following the recent close of DigitalBridge Partners III (DBP III), which secured US$11.7 billion in total commitments including US$4.5 billion in LP co investment commitments. Developed markets in Asia, including South Korea, will be a key focus for deployment under this fund.
The engagement with KT reinforces DigitalBridge’s momentum in expanding next-generation digital infrastructure. Across its global data centre portfolio, the firm continues to deploy capital to support the growing need for high density and sustainable facilities that enable AI workloads. This collaboration brings that strategy further into Asia at a time when regional demand for AI-ready capacity is accelerating. It also supports the wider global emphasis on cooperation in Digital Transformation highlighted at the APEC 2025 Summit – where leaders underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships to create resilient and sustainable digital ecosystems.
KT is leveraging its nationwide high-speed network and established data centre operations to lead the development of AI specialised infrastructure in South Korea. Its strategy includes deploying high performance GPU clusters, building energy efficient and ecofriendly facilities and expanding partnerships with international technology companies to enhance the country’s AI data centre ecosystem.
These efforts are said to reflect South Korea’s growing role in the global AI landscape and the need for scalable digital infrastructure to support national and international demand.
According to Woojin Jung, Head of Strategy and Business Consulting Group, KT, the company is reviewing multiple options to secure resilient and efficient AI data centre capacity as AI adoption accelerates – noting that KT, together with DigitalBridge, will pursue domestic and global AI data centre opportunities to provide tailored and value-added solutions for its customers.
