Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has met with senior executives from ZTE Corporation to strengthen bilateral cooperation in Digital Infrastructure and Artificial Intelligence (AI), highlighting the growing technology partnership between Cambodia and the global ICT provider.
The meeting took place during the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, where the Prime Minister held talks with Xiao Ming, President of Overseas at ZTE, James Zhang, Senior Vice President of ZTE and other company representatives.
Discussions centred on expanding long-term collaboration in Digital Infrastructure and Artificial Intelligence, reinforcing the strategic partnership between Cambodia and ZTE while supporting the country’s Digital Transformation agenda.
Xiao Ming outlined ZTE’s global operations across more than 160 countries and regions and highlighted the company’s more than 20-year presence in Cambodia.
During that time, ZTE has played a significant role in developing the country’s telecommunications infrastructure and supporting its Digital Transformation through investment in communications networks and digital technologies.
Prime Minister Hun Manet acknowledged ZTE’s longstanding contribution to Cambodia’s telecommunications sector and welcomed the company’s continued commitment to the country’s technology ambitions.
He reiterated that science, technology and Digital Transformation remain strategic priorities for the Royal Government as it seeks to strengthen national competitiveness, accelerate economic growth and improve public services through digital innovation.
Both sides agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation across several strategic areas, including the deployment of 5G infrastructure, the development of Artificial Intelligence applications and the cultivation of ICT talent to support Cambodia’s digital economy.
The meeting established a framework for expanded collaboration in next-generation digital technologies, with both Cambodia and ZTE reaffirming their commitment to building resilient Digital Infrastructure, accelerating AI adoption and fostering innovation through long-term partnership.
The strengthened cooperation is expected to support Cambodia’s ambitions to advance its Digital Transformation strategy while reinforcing bilateral ties through technology, innovation and skills development.
