In a move to accelerate its AI ambitions, Tajikistan has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Presight, a global AI and big data analytics firm headquartered in Abu Dhabi. The agreement signals the country’s intent to integrate AI into key sectors, including government, infrastructure, and education, thereby cementing its emerging reputation as a hub for AI innovation in Central Asia.
The MoU was formalised during the Tajikistan-UAE Business Forum in Dushanbe, with high-level representatives from both nations in attendance. UAE Minister of Economy H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and UAE Ambassador to Kazakhstan H.E. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Ariqi joined the ceremony, underscoring the growing bilateral ties between the two countries.
Representing Tajikistan, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir said the agreement builds on the nation’s holistic approach to AI development.
“Tajikistan has pioneered the full AI supply chain, from green compute infrastructure to the integration of AI in education and synthetic data research,” he said. “Presight is an ideal partner as we scale Area AI, our national technopark initiative, and pilot AI solutions in smart cities, industrial zones and infrastructure.”
Presight, whose majority shareholder is the Abu Dhabi-based G42, will support Tajikistan’s AI goals through technology transfer, pilot deployments, and skills development. The firm’s regional director for Central Asia, Maxat Koshumbayev, emphasised the partnership’s long-term value.
“Presight is honoured to play a role in Tajikistan’s digital transformation journey. This collaboration draws on our global experience to create tangible, AI-powered outcomes that will help unlock new efficiencies and opportunities across sectors,” said Koshumbayev.
The MoU outlines several pillars of cooperation, including the deployment of AI solutions in smart governance, energy, and cybersecurity. A joint working group will be formed to oversee pilot initiatives, facilitate the transfer of advanced AI tools, and align on regulatory frameworks.
One of the immediate focus areas will be the application of AI in critical infrastructure, with discussions already under way to enhance operations at Dushanbe International Airport using intelligent systems.
The agreement reflects broader strategic ambitions in the region to harness AI as a driver of economic development. It also deepens technological ties between the UAE and Central Asia at a time when countries are actively seeking digital sovereignty and homegrown innovation capacity.
With the signing of this MoU, Presight continues its expansion into Central Asia, reinforcing its position as a leading enabler of AI transformation across emerging markets.
