Tejari signs MoU with Dubai SME to streamline procurement services

Strategic procurement company Tejari, has announced the signing of a MoU with Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai mandated to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, to deploy a dedicated eProcurement platform for SME members.

The collaboration aims to automate member requests, enable supplier categorisation and reporting capabilities through the BravoAdvantage Supplier Value Management capability. The platform will fully integrate with the eSupply and will act as a gateway for membership payment.

Marwan Al Naqi, Chairman at Tejari commented on the partnership saying: “The UAE is generally considered, and in particular the city of Dubai, one of the first to adopt the latest technology to build a better, improved life and development model. The vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai is clear in Dubai’s transformation into a smart city to provide a new way of life based on creativity and innovation.”

Marwan Al Naqi also added: “We have a strong belief in the importance of small and medium sized projects in promoting the growth that is taking place in the state and establishing the economic diversification policy. There is an agreement that small and medium sized projects are now in many countries of the world, the most accurate measurement of the economy’s success. Henceforth, from this point of assessment, our cooperation with Mohammed bin Rashid enterprises for the development of small and medium sized projects started to launch the smart government system to qualify and register members in the central procurement portal of Dubai Smart Government provided by Tejari. We aim through this agreement to create a shift in the business environment of the private sector small and medium sized projects, and to develop a smart portal for dealing with government procurement in Dubai, and positively contribute support to this sector.”

The announcement follows the successful automation of Dubai SME’s registration, pre-qualification and approval processes to their Government Procurement Program. The program, founded in 2011 was designed to enable SMEs to access contracting opportunities with government departments in the UAE. With the deployment of the new application all transactions among Dubai Government Departments will be consolidated on one unique platform ensuring all departments assign the agreed 5% of their purchasing spend to SME members.

Expressing delight on the partnership with Tejari Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME said “The smart services portal links SMEs on an electronic platform and enables exchange of data and information to identify qualified SMEs and entrepreneurs. Through this extraordinary initiative we seek to support the ongoing efforts to increase the contribution of SMEs to the non-oil GDP of Dubai and improve the emirate’s ranking in the ease of doing business across global indices in line with the Dubai Plan 2021” he continued “We aim to develop entrepreneurship in the UAE, and highlight the opportunities available to our member SMEs to grow their business by supplying the various requirements of government entities in Dubai. The portal will alert SMEs on the best business and investment opportunities. We will continue to develop the smart interface of the portal in collaboration with Tejari”

Tejari will play a key role in the implementation of the application, from complete re-designing of user experiences on all smart services to providing end-user training and support to Dubai SME to ensure the successful adoption of the platform.  For more information on Tejari, please visit: http://tejari.com/
