Ministry of Education Oman launches AI-powered classroom transformation supported by Microsoft

The Ministry of Education (MoE) in Oman announced the deployment of 4,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot licences across public schools in the Sultanate. The announcement was made during COMEX 2025, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to reimagining the future of education through Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The roll-out is set to empower teachers with intelligent tools for planning, grading and content creation – freeing up time for deeper student engagement and personalised instruction. Students will gain interactive learning experiences that enhance critical thinking, collaboration and digital fluency, while school leaders and administrators will also gain data-driven insights to monitor performance, streamline collaboration and scale innovation across the education system. Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the programme advances the nation’s goal of building a knowledge-based society. The nationwide rollout spans both urban and rural schools, ensuring equitable access to AI-powered tools for all students and educators.

Ali Al Ghadani, Deputy Director of the Applied Science Department for IT, Ministry of Education, said: “This initiative marks a turning point for education in Oman and a clear demonstration of our commitment to building a knowledge-based society under Vision 2040. By deploying Microsoft 365 AI Copilot at scale across public schools, we are empowering our teachers with intelligent tools that free their time to focus on creativity, innovation, and student engagement. At the same time, we are giving our young people access to personalised, interactive learning experiences that sharpen critical thinking, collaboration and digital fluency.”

Sheikh Saif Hilal Al Hosni, Country Manager, Microsoft Oman and Bahrain, said: “This is not simply about adopting technology; it is about transforming education. Oman is positioning itself as a pioneer in digital learning transformation in the region.”
