Nutanix and Supermicro are developing a jointly engineered AI infrastructure solution designed to simplify private AI deployments, reduce inference costs and give enterprises greater control over GPU resources and data security.
Nutanix and Supermicro have announced plans to develop a jointly engineered Artificial Intelligence infrastructure solution designed to help enterprises reduce the costs and complexity associated with deploying AI workloads.
The solution will combine the Nutanix Cloud Platform with Supermicro servers, NVIDIA GPUs and NVIDIA Spectrum-X networking to provide an integrated platform for private AI inference.
Powered by Nutanix Agentic AI, the system is intended to help organisations move AI projects from experimentation into production without having to integrate multiple infrastructure technologies.
The architecture will provide capabilities spanning infrastructure provisioning, AI model execution and governance of agentic workloads.
It will incorporate Nutanix Kubernetes Platform and Nutanix Enterprise AI to support model-as-a-service delivery and a secure Agent Gateway.
Nutanix Unified Storage will provide high-performance storage for AI workloads, including context caching and model serving, while an integrated AI catalogue will simplify access to common applications.
The system is also designed to allow enterprises to expand GPU capacity as AI requirements increase while maintaining control over infrastructure management and operational costs.
Matthew Thauberger, Chief Revenue Officer at Supermicro, said: “Collaborating with Nutanix, we want to accelerate time-to-online for enterprise AI. Combining Supermicro’s engineered servers with Nutanix’s full-stack software will deliver a pre-validated, rack-scale solution that bypasses traditional lead-time delays. It will help give organizations predictable access to high-density GPU compute while removing the operational complexity of scaling AI.”
Simplifying private AI infrastructure
The jointly engineered solution will use Supermicro server systems housing eight NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs per node.
A dedicated Nutanix management cluster, based on the NX-8170-G10, is intended to provide a resilient control plane that protects against management failures without interrupting GPU workloads.
High-performance storage will be supported by an integrated Nutanix Unified Storage cluster using the NX-8150-G10, designed to handle demanding AI data ingestion, checkpointing and caching requirements.
The networking architecture will incorporate NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet technology, including Spectrum-4 switches, ConnectX-7/8 SuperNICs and BlueField-3 DPUs.
These components are intended to support high-performance GPU connectivity, infrastructure offloading and predictable scaling as workloads expand.
Thomas Cornely, Executive Vice President, Product Management at Nutanix, said: “Moving AI from experimentation into production remains a challenge for many enterprises, with infrastructure complexity and hardware procurement often slowing progress. Our expanded collaboration with Supermicro is a direct response to this barrier. The Supermicro systems, engineered with our Nutanix Agentic AI full stack software, will help enterprises simplify how AI infrastructure is deployed, operated, and secured, and scaled, enabling them to simply deploy private inference and control the cost per token as AI adoption scales.”
Supporting AI adoption across the Middle East and Africa
Nutanix believes the solution will be particularly relevant to organisations across the Middle East and Africa as they increase investment in AI infrastructure and seek greater control over inference costs.
The company says enterprises are increasingly focused on deploying AI applications in production environments while addressing challenges involving GPU availability, infrastructure integration and data security.

Sush Kajaria, EMEA Alliance Sales Director at Nutanix, said: “As organisations across the Middle East and Africa accelerate their AI initiatives, the focus is shifting from experimentation to delivering measurable business value from AI in production. However, the cost of inference, access to GPU infrastructure and the complexity of integrating multiple technologies can slow this progress. Our expanded collaboration with Supermicro is designed to address these challenges by simplifying the deployment and management of private AI infrastructure, giving enterprises greater control over their data, security and AI operating costs. By combining validated server systems with Nutanix’s full-stack AI software, we aim to help organisations across the region scale AI workloads more efficiently, reduce deployment complexity and build a more predictable foundation for long-term AI adoption.”
Matt Kimball, Vice President & Principal Analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, commented: “The AI imperative is shifting from simply building raw compute capacity to optimizing the cost and efficiency of every inference delivered. Hardware, memory, networking, model optimization, and orchestration all need to be managed as a system if organizations are going to scale inference efficiently and translate AI investment into real business outcomes.”
The Supermicro systems powered by Nutanix Agentic AI are expected to become available in early 2027 through Supermicro and its channel partners.
