Khalifa University develops Agentic AI platform to support education at scale

Khalifa University has developed InstrucTwin, an Agentic AI platform designed to support personalised learning, teacher development and institutional decision-making, with more than 21,400 educators receiving AI professional development as part of a collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s education authorities.

Khalifa University of Science and Technology has developed InstrucTwin, an Agentic AI platform designed to support personalised learning, teacher development and institutional decision-making.

Commercialised through Khalifa University Enterprises Company (KUEC), the platform uses specialised AI agents to support lesson planning, assessment, grading, feedback and curriculum-based tutoring.

Developed for schools, universities and education authorities, InstrucTwin operates within approved curricula and institutional policies while retaining human oversight.

The platform forms part of Khalifa University’s collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) to strengthen AI literacy and educator capabilities.

More than 21,400 educators have received AI professional development on InstrucTwin, including advanced training for over 170 designated AI Leads.

Professor Azzam Mourad, Founder of InstrucTwin and Vice President and Advisor for AI and Digital Transformation at Khalifa University, said: “AI transformation in education requires curriculum, educator capability, assessment, governance and technology to move together. Our collaboration with ADEK connects these elements, translating its AI Literacy Framework into implementation, building educator capability and deploying InstrucTwin as the AI-enabled technology layer for scale. The goal is to build AI capability across the education ecosystem.”

The platform also connects educational performance data to help institutions identify learning gaps and monitor interventions.
