Siemens will present technology for digitalized manufacturing and industrialization in the Middle East under the banner of ‘Discover the Value of the Digital Enterprise,’ during the first Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit to be held in Abu Dhabi on the 27th-30th March.
The company’s exhibition at GMIS demonstrates how digital technologies can drive a robust, globally competitive industrial sector in the Middle East, harnessing the digital enterprise to develop high-tech manufacturing with shorter time to market, greater flexibility and improved efficiency and quality.
The global technology company will showcase technologies for the full digital enterprise, cyber security, energy optimization, industrialized 3D printing and product life-cycle management. For the first time in the Middle East, Siemens will also introduce MindSphere, its open, cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) operating system for industry, which helps businesses turn data into knowledge for measured business success.

The Digital Enterprise Suite from Siemens is a comprehensive portfolio of integrated software and automation systems covering all the requirements of Industry 4.0, including Product life-cycle Management (PLM), Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) and life-cycle and data analytics (MindSphere). It enables manufacturing companies to digitalize and streamline their entire business process, integrating suppliers and creating a digital representation of their entire value chain.
MindSphere’s debut in the region gives businesses the opportunity to swiftly implement a digital transformation using data analytics, connectivity capabilities and tools for developers, applications and services. The cloud-based operating system for the Internet of Things captures, stores and analyzes large volumes of operational data – regardless of business size – to make real-world gains in efficiency, flexibility, cost-saving, resource management and quality.
As part of the digital enterprise, Siemens’ solutions for Product life-cycle Management will also be showcased. This information management system integrates data, process and business systems to manage the life-cycle of a product from ideation, design and manufacture, to service and disposal. It includes technologies such as product data management, computer-aided design and manufacturing, predictive engineering analytics, mechatronic system simulation and virtual testing and analysis. An example of the power of PLM is the Mars Rover Curiosity, which was designed and tested virtually using Siemens PLM software before being sent to Mars.
Siemens will also focus on the potential of additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, to drive digitalized manufacturing in the Middle East. The company’s portfolio in 3D printing includes computer-aided design (CAD) software, control, automation and drive systems for additive manufacturing machinery, and the comprehensive digital modeling of all processes. The technology has revolutionized the manufacture of components and Siemens uses it to manufacture parts for industrial gas turbines and rail vehicles with faster design, production and delivery and rapid prototyping, manufacture and repair. Siemens is currently working on a pilot project in the UAE with Strata and Etihad to produce the region’s first 3D-printed part for aircraft interiors.
