IFX Networks shows a positive outcome in Latin America

In response to the Digital Transformation challenges posed by current times, IFX Networks has announced the start of direct operations in Honduras.

Data centers are becoming the pillars for the development of a digital economy and, therefore, their location is also strategic for economic development and even to refocus where a country should go.

This is the case with Honduras, a country with outstanding potential and in which IFX Networks has decided to deploy new operations to serve not only its economy but also that of a region like Central America.

According to World Bank estimates, Honduras will recover in 2021 at a rate of 4.5% amid the reactivation of domestic economic activity, the recovery of investment and external demand. Despite the effect of the pandemic and the consequences left by the passage of two hurricanes, Honduras has multiple strengths and potential for faster development along with greater shared prosperity.

Among these strengths, it stands out because of its strategic location, a growing industrial base, continuous efforts to diversify its exports and a young and growing population.

In response to the Digital Transformation challenges posed by this context, IFX Networks has announced the start of its direct operations in Honduras.

“After the integration process with an important local ally, the company extends to this country all its service capacity, innovation, experience and infrastructure, for the provision of IT Managed Services,” said Luis Gabriel Castellanos, Manager of IFX Networks in Colombia.

“We thus consolidate our presence in Central America, a region in which we have already been working based from our offices in Panama and Guatemala, countries where we also have had direct operations since 2016 and 2018, respectively.”

In his opinion, Honduras’ greatest demand for services is focused on connectivity requirements, migration to the cloud, desktop virtualization, Business Continuity solutions, colocation services and information security.

Business verticals, financial services, manufacturing, government, commerce, agribusiness, food, transportation and tourism are mainstream for the Honduras economy.

This has allowed them, as has happened worldwide, to automate their processes, guarantee Business Continuity and quick implementation of new models associated with teleworking, electronic commerce, virtual education and telemedicine, among others, contributing to the economic reactivation.

IT process outsourcing

Castellanos said: “The challenge of competing and being more efficient made the business community of this country understand the convenience of appointing their technological processes to a supplier with a comprehensive service. In this way, the companies’ resources have been focused on business priorities and not on operational issues.”

IFX Networks has 22 years of experience, 15 data centers from the southern United States to Chile and Argentina, and provides technical support to 3,200 corporate customers, including large companies, government and IT channels.

Knowing the environment of the users in every country has been vital for a portfolio design and  has been founded on three business lines: Managed Cloud, Managed Network and Managed Solutions.

Business outcome

IFX Networks grew 18.6% in 2020, compared to 2019. This figure relates to the management in 17 countries where the firm operates.

“Reaching this growth in a pandemic context is relevant. It shows how responsive the company is, and confirms that we are achieving our role as a technological ally for corporate business,” said Castellanos.

In terms of verticals, the industry and services achieved the best performance with 50% of revenues; government grew 30% and IT channels 20%.

“The market required greater support, both in connectivity solutions and cloud migration. This was required from new development to stronger mobility and information security strategies, which  are key to achieving the company’s goals,” said Castellanos.

IFX SD-WAN, a Solution As A Service developed on VMWare VeloCloud technology, was pivotal. This product had a high demand in the region, because of the optimized connectivity between multiple branches with public and private clouds.

IFX SD-WAN also enables companies to implement new business models, while allowing them to effectively manage their applications in the cloud.

The balance sheet concludes with two important recognitions. The first was for Company of the Year 2020 in the Colombian Managed Services Industry. This award was granted by Frost & Sullivan, a market research and analysis firm with offices in 40 countries.

The second award from a media platform was for number one Managed Service Provider (MSP) in Latin America and 19th best MSP worldwide for the year 2021.
