Brasscom launches project to train more than 150,000 ICT professionals

Brasscom has launched one of the largest projects for training talent in Information and Communication Technology in Brazil.

The ICT Training Acceleration Program was approved by the association’s board of directors with the aim of increasing the number of qualified laborers available for the sector, with the training of 156,000 students.

According to a study by Brasscom, 420,000 new workers would be required by the sector between 2019 and 2024. On an annual average, the market needs 70,000 professionals. Today, however, only 46,000 people are trained with a technological profile each year.

Laércio Cosentino, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Brasscom, said: “Equalizing this difference is essential for technology companies to continue growing, generating formal and quality jobs and helping to accelerate the recovery of the economy.”

As a first step, the association built a proposal for minimal training, taking into account one of the most demanded profiles in the sector: the web developer. The proposed course will last three months, with a total workload of 264 hours, in a hybrid format – with in-person classes and distance learning. The training seeks to enable entry, in an initial position, in the technical areas of technology companies.
