Genneia prepares for the future of business with SAP S/4HANA in the cloud

A leading renewable energy company completed the migration to increase information security and support new business requirements with best practices.

Genneia, a leading company in renewable energy generation in Argentina, an important provider of clean energy solutions to the corporate market and the country’s main issuer of green bonds locally and internationally, has chosen SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition to accompany business growth and enhance its evolution.

A SAP customer since 2008, the company decided to update its management systems to, among other improvements, support new business needs and provide Genneia with adequate technology in relation to information security.

Martín Broder Forer, Project Director of Genneia, said: “Beyond the execution of the project, this is a path that we started at the beginning of 2020. SAP accompanied us by carrying out a diagnosis on our installation.

“This analysis contemplated a technical review, as well as, together with the key users of each area, determining the functional needs that we had to cover. The most appropriate thing was to advance in a project of complete reimplementation of the solution.

“We are a leading company in our activity, with very interesting growth in an increasingly attractive market. We needed to accompany this context with tools that would allow us to incorporate the best market practices for our processes.

“We set ourselves an ambitious goal: achieve the complete reimplementation of our ERP and have the most up-to-date version of SAP in the cloud. We made Genneia an early adopter of SAP S/4HANA technology in the cloud, making it one of the first organizations in the country to complete its migration for a large implementation.

“The objective was achieved even in the face of the additional difficulty of developing it practically entirely virtually, since it was done during times of pandemic.”

The implementation, which began in November 2020, was carried out by Seidor, a SAP partner, and had approximately 60 people assigned to the project between Genneia, partner consultants and SAP.

Sabrina Raimondi , Genneia Project Leader, said: “We evaluated different solution alternatives before starting the project and we chose SAP again: we needed to streamline our operations, and this meant transforming the way we were doing things.

“We did it hand in hand with Seidor Argentina , as an implementing partner, and also accompanied by SAP. We chose to migrate 100% to the cloud to guarantee information security. It was a very thoughtful decision internally, which we vindicate today.”
