Xcaret Group offers an unforgettable experience with Panduit hyperconnectivity

Case StudiesHospitalityTop Stories

The most advanced infrastructure available in the Panduit portfolio allows the technological platform of one of the most beloved parks in Latin America to respond to the highest demands of connectivity and sustainability.

Xcaret means ‘small bay’ in the Mayan language. But in the 21st century, this word evokes fun, entertainment, adventure, history and conservation, all under the most demanding, advanced quality and environmental preservation standards in Riviera Maya.

The goal of Grupo Xcaret is to make the world happier by spreading its love for Mexico and its unique vision of sustainable tourism recreation. Since its foundation, the group has implemented practices to promote tourism that they proudly call ‘sustainable’, which caused a positive impact on the social environment and the world through promoting gender equity, inclusion and diversity.

These practices had allowed the company to earn, apart from the respect and recognition of tourists, several national and global awards.

One of them was the honor of belonging to the Best Mexican Companies group and winning the 2018 Applause Award for the best park in the world.

Experience requires connectivity

Grupo Xcaret is a business group that, since 1984, has been recognized as one of the main tourist centers in Mexico. The parks, hotels and rides stand out concerning tourist and technological aspects, carrying a concern for environmental conservation and minimizing the environmental impact of the facilities and infrastructure.

In 2016, the Xcaret Group began developing a hotel complex that allowed it to offer a unique experience to its visitors (All-Fun Inclusive), characterized by its innovation, sustainability, hyperconnectivity and architecture based on Mexican culture.

It required the hotels in the complex (Hotel Xcaret México, Hotel Xcaret Arte and Hotel Casa de la Playa), the parks and other areas to have a robust and reliable network infrastructure.

For this, some of Panduit’s best solutions were chosen: Category 6 A cabling networks, connectivity and enterprise solutions (including routing systems), power and grounding, cabinets, thermal management racks and enclosures, physical infrastructure management, power distribution and environmental monitoring solutions.

Verónica Martínez, Corporate Technology Director, Grupo Xcaret

Verónica Martínez, Corporate Technology Director, Grupo Xcaret, said: “Our main challenge was to have technological innovation and be environmentally friendly. It was possible thanks to a camouflaged, secure, robust, scalable and transformative technology”.

Hyperconnected tourism in Xcaret with Panduit

The goal is always to support the technological implementations required to meet even the most complex connectivity needs of the Xcaret customers, besides personalizing their experiences to the maximum.

Jorge Cantoral, Vice-Director of IT Projects Hotels & Club, Xcaret, said: “Panduit has been a strategic ally for this project. Their work has gone beyond just providing solutions. Besides being a reliable brand, with quality products and wide availability, they collaborated in the design, implementation and audit of the project.”

Panduit worked with Grupo Xcaret in each step of the process, relying on business partners such as Syscom to implement technological solutions. Many of these solutions were implemented according to the specific needs of the hotel complex, and Panduit performed constant tests and revisions, developed the design of the main sites, and generated special reports that provided relevant information for project development and maintenance.

The technological solutions offered by Panduit – such as fiber optic and copper cabling, Matrix and Varimatrix solutions, cabinets, racks, confinement, intelligent PDU and Industrial Distribution Frame (IDF) – ensure the proper functioning of the devices on the network because they are resistant to site-specific climatic conditions, such as high humidity and high temperatures. In addition, they ensure proper data transmission, are environmentally friendly and comply with the strictest international standards.

One of the main objectives of Grupo Xcaret for this Digital Innovation project was to create a hyperconnected, environmentally friendly hotel complex where technology and nature co-exist and offer a unique experience to customers.

Over six years, Grupo Xcaret and Panduit have offered smart tourism destinations that promote connectivity, sustainability and customer service, allowing it to achieve certifications such as EarthCheck Gold Certification and 5 Diamond Certification from the American Automobile Association.
