Claro and AWS renew cloud partnership in Colombia

Claro and cloud provider Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced the renewal of their cloud services contract for five years.

As a result, Claro Enterprise Solutions will continue to be able to provide customers in Colombia with cloud solutions from AWS.

The telecom company has invested nearly US$6 million to train its staff to offer technical and consulting services through a cloud services center jointly developed by both companies since 2020, said Claro Colombia CEO Carlos Zenteno.

The contract with AWS does not include the use of Claro data centers but will take advantage of AWS’s global cloud infrastructure.

The cloud company has AWS Local Zones in Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Peru, which places AWS infrastructure and services closer to population, industries and IT centers. Colombia is among the six new local zones that were announced in 2022 and that will come online this year.

The agreement between Claro and AWS will focus on managed services, migration of SAP systems, contact centers and vertical solutions. The telco has a strong presence in the financial, oil and gas, health and retail sectors.

Late last year, Claro announced it would become the host partner for an Oracle Cloud region in the country and offer OCI platform services with professional and managed services to help customers adopt cloud solutions.
