The salmon farming company presented its experience with the solutions of the German multinational at the Evolution Smart Day event held in Santiago.
Ventisqueros, a salmon farming company and subsidiary of the German company Schörghuber Stiftung & Co Corporate Group, with 35 years of presence in Chile, has shared its experience of working with SAP solutions at SAP Evolution Smart Day held in Santiago.
Chile is the second largest producer of salmon in the world and this product is the second largest exporter after mining at the national level. Ventisqueros produces 59 thousand tons per year and generates 300 million dollars in sales annually. Currently 1,400 people collaborate in the company which, in the words of its CFO, Santiago Délano, was one of the reasons that prompted them to implement Rise with SAP and SAP S/4HANA, tools that facilitate the company’s operation.
“In the beginning our activity was very manual with rather rudimentary materials and, due to the remoteness of the cultivation centers, we needed to implement technological solutions that would allow us to operate more efficiently. We have evolved with the support of technology. Today our strategy and operations articulate the goals that we have set and SAP has been our partner in this process,” said Délano.
In 2018 Ventisqueros strategically designed its entry into Industry 4.0, and, thinking about its Digital Transformation, it defined three steps to achieve it: the first was to move from a physical data center to the cloud; the second was to safeguard its data and the third was to establish SAP foundations – understanding that today they are practically the ‘plug and play’ of all emerging technologies and that with their solutions everything necessary to operate can be interconnected.
“SAP has three key features that we use in our operation today: the first is Rise with SAP, which saves us all the administrative burden, they are easy to license and their response is timely, it works well and delivers what it promises. The second is SAP S/4HANA, today we work with the SAP Fiori platform and we have an initial Digital Transformation that has allowed us to innovate in all standards and the third is the Analytics Cloud that allows us to transform data into information. We are in an initial stage and we hope to have a data lake (data repository) in the future to consolidate all the information we handle,” said Víctor Inostroza, Ventisqueros ICT Assistant Manager.
Both executives referred to the commitment and support of SAP throughout the process and highlighted their quality as a partner in the implementations they have carried out, which allows them to continue improving continuously to increase their sustainability standards.
Attendees at Evolution Smart Day, sponsored by partners Axity, Concur, Edison, Enable, Inxap Solutions and Seidor, were able to share their experiences about how SAP solutions allow them to make the most critical strategic and operational decisions, as well as to become resilient and sustainable.
