Cirion expands its data center complex in Cotia, São Paulo

Cirion Technologies, a leading digital infrastructure and technology provider, has announced the expansion of its carrier-neutral data center complex in São Paulo (SAO1) with a new 3,600 square-meter building, increasing total capacity by 50%.

The site is enabled to host workloads that require high density, including various Artificial Intelligence, gaming and Deep Learning among others. Cirion is backed by Stonepeak, a leading alternative investment firm specialized in infrastructure and real assets, with approximately US$57 billion of assets under management and a broad portfolio of communications and digital infrastructure investments around the world.

The expansion of the SAO1 complex in Cotia, São Paulo enables Cirion to continue supporting the demands of various hyperscalers, carriers and content providers, all of whom require robust and scalable infrastructure. It continues Cirion’s over 30 years of serving corporate customers in Brazil and more broadly across Latin America.

Both buildings in the SAO1 complex share a 20MW power substation, with redundant high voltage line inputs. The new building follows the company’s carrier-neutral policy, allowing customers direct access to more than 90 carriers and to the primary public cloud companies operating in Latin-American markets.

Additionally, SAO1 is certified with the highest ISO standards such as ISO 9001; ISO 20000-1; ISO 27001; ISO 27017; ISO 27018; ISO 27701; ISO 22301; ISO 14001; ISO 45001 (BS OHSAS 18001); ISAE 3402; PCI-DSS 3.2.1; with Tier III Design Documents and Tier III Constructed Facility from the Uptime Institute and compliant with AICPA’s PCI-DSS and SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3 in addition to being SAP Outsourcing Operations Partner.

Cirion owns and operates three data center complexes in Brazil, strategically located in the cities of São Paulo (SAO1), Rio de Janeiro (RIO1) and Curitiba (CUR1). These facilities are located in secure, easily accessed regions and close to primary business districts and airports, thus enabling greater logistical and operational agility.

Cirion data centers enable companies to build and scale their operations in facilities aligned with Latin America’s sustainability goals and adhere to Cirion’s ESG standards and commitment to technological innovation. This expansion will allow SAO1 to achieve market-leading ‘Power Usage Effectiveness’ (PUE) with minimal energy, water and natural resources consumption to reduce its overall environmental impact.

“The São Paulo data center expansion represents another step in our journey to grow the platform of low-latency, interconnected data centers and establish a thriving digital ecosystem in Latin America,” said Facundo Castro, CEO of Cirion Technologies.

“This new facility in the São Paulo data center complex reflects Cirion’s ongoing commitment to investing in and providing our customers with the most complete suite of data center solutions to support their Digital Transformation throughout the region.”
