Claro will invest 568 billion pesos in Colombian 5G network

Claro Colombia has announced that its customers will be able to benefit from 5G mobile Internet in 2024.

During an auction process Claro secured 80 MHz in the 3.5GHz band during an auction process in order to begin the deployment of this technology.

“5G is already a reality in the country. Our commitment is clear: to lead the national technological vanguard through an unparalleled investment. Today we begin this path to offer Colombians the most advanced and quality mobile Internet services,” said Carlos Zenteno, President of Claro Colombia. “The arrival of 5G represents a technological revolution that will boost the economic and social development of Colombia.

“The high speed and massive connection capacity offered by the fifth generation will open new opportunities for large companies, SMEs, entrepreneurs, citizens and the state itself, in terms of mobile and fixed connectivity.”

The company committed to investments for COP$568 billion (payments to the Single ICT Fund Futic) and with coverage obligations to bring connectivity to 313 educational institutions across the country.

The 5G technology will improve speed and reduce latency, which will provide quicker access to services and applications for Claro customers across Colombia.
