TIM has APIs ‘100% ready’ for the Brazilian market

TIM, a leader in 5G in Brazil, says it has 100% ready APIs for the Brazilian market and is expected to activate up to five new customers in the first half of 2024 – with a focus on identity validation and fraud prevention solutions.

The announcement makes TIM one of the first operators in the world to have the APIs ready for commercialization in Brazil.

“TIM’s commitment reinforces our commitment to the Open Gateway and our international pioneering spirit. Our leadership and expertise in 5G have enabled us to advance the delivery of security and anti-fraud solutions globally with APIs. Our main goal is to help provide security to customers, support the corporate market and benefit the population,” said Renato Ciuchini, VP of New Business and Innovation, TIM Brasil.

The GSMA Open Gateway initiative represents a paradigm shift in the way the global telecommunications industry designs and brings to market new mobile applications and digital and immersive services.

The project guarantees 100% privacy from conception and fully complies with Brazil’s the LGPD regulations.

TIM, as a leading 5G operator with one of the largest mobile networks in the country, has launched three APIs as part of this GSMA-led global collaboration:

  • Number Verify for real-time verification of mobile number.
  • SIM Swap to detect recent SIM card changes.
  • Device Location to confirm the proximity of a device to a location – assisting in the prevention of false transactions.
