Claro Colombia continues working toward its goal of becoming a more sustainable company.
According to its 2024 Sustainability Report, it has made significant progress in social, environmental and corporate governance issues, benefiting millions of people and contributing to environmental protection.
By 2024, the company recovered more than five million pieces of electronic equipment through its Circular Economy and Reverse Logistics program, reaching a record figure since the program’s launch. It also prevented the generation of 934 tons of electronic waste (WEEE) and reused 577 tons of plastic.
In terms of electricity, Claro achieved a reduction of 1,228,743 kWh in data center consumption and cut 5,876 tons of CO2 emissions through energy efficiency initiatives and photovoltaic systems, making progress toward its carbon neutrality goal with a 45% reduction in direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2024 on the path to its commitment to reduce emissions by 52% by 2030.
By 2024, Claro connected more than 972 rural and remote locations in Colombia to 4G mobile Internet for the first time. It also consolidated the deployment of its 5G network in 20 cities with more than 1,300 5G antennas, reaching 99% coverage in 1,103 municipalities across the country and building an infrastructure of more than 10,000 communication towers.
In addition, more than 370,000 students and educators from 340 educational institutions in 28 departments benefited from the ‘Claro Connected Schools for Colombia’ program, which provides free Internet access in technology labs at educational institutions across the country, along with digital literacy programs.
