HIVE expands AI cloud infrastructure into Paraguay with purpose-built BUZZ platform

HIVE Digital Technologies is expanding into Paraguay through a strategic joint venture with the country’s leading telecommunications operator to launch one of Paraguay’s first purpose built Artificial Intelligence BUZZ Cloud platforms.

The platform will be located in Asunción and hosted in a Tier III data center operated by the telecom partner.

The AI cloud is designed to deliver high performance computing and Artificial Intelligence infrastructure to academic and research institutions enterprises financial services firms and healthcare providers across Paraguay and South America.

Initial deployment is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026 with an enterprise grade GPU cluster supporting AI training inference and data intensive workloads. Capacity is expected to scale over time based on demand capital availability and infrastructure readiness.

HIVE is leveraging Paraguay’s renewable hydroelectric power national fiber connectivity and enterprise grade data center operations. The company has operated Tier I data centers and substations in Paraguay using surplus renewable energy.

The company said its phased approach mirrors development patterns seen in Texas where energy led Tier I facilities evolved into Tier III data centers supporting enterprise and AI applications.

HIVE believes Paraguay’s stable governance pro investment policies and strong energy profile create favorable conditions for long term digital infrastructure growth.

Executives said the Asunción launch is an initial step toward expanding local access to accelerated computing while supporting workforce development and regional innovation over time across South America markets globally.
