Microsoft research suggests employees in Mexico are adopting Artificial Intelligence faster than organisations are adapting their leadership, processes and working practices.
More than two-thirds of Artificial Intelligence users in Mexico say the technology enables them to perform work they could not do a year ago, according to Microsoft’s Work Trend Index 2026.
The research found 67% of Mexican AI users have expanded what they can accomplish through the technology, but only 28% believe there is clear leadership alignment within their organisations to translate those capabilities into new ways of working.
Microsoft said 67% of AI’s impact depends on organisational factors, compared with 32% attributed to individual effort, highlighting the importance of adapting workflows, responsibilities and decision-making as adoption increases.
Human skills also remain important. Some 49% of Mexican AI users identified quality control as particularly relevant, while 47% highlighted critical thinking. Meanwhile, 85% use AI as a starting point while retaining responsibility for reasoning and decisions.
The research identified 17% of Mexican workers surveyed as ‘Frontier Professionals’, compared with 16% globally. Among this group, 81% said they can now perform work previously beyond their capabilities.
“The transformation is already happening within teams. People are expanding their capabilities with AI; the next step is to redesign processes and ways of collaborating so that this progress generates results at scale,” said Ezequiel Glinsky, Director of Technology, Microsoft Latin America.
