Suzano, Tencent and Ecofuturo Institute partner to advance AI-Powered conservation and nature Education

Suzano, the world’s largest pulp supplier, has signed an MoU with Tencent and the Brazilian non-profit Ecofuturo Institute to advance AI-powered conservation and environmental education.

The partnership will combine Suzano’s sustainable forestry expertise, Tencent’s digital innovation and Ecofuturo’s long-standing leadership in nature education to pilot initiatives in Brazil and China.

A central pilot will deploy advanced species-recognition AI developed by Tencent’s Sustainable Social Value organization to identify and monitor native species in Neblinas Park and other Ecofuturo-managed areas. Additional initiatives include creating immersive environmental education programs and interactive digital platforms that use innovative technologies to bring people closer to nature.

Malu Paiva, Global Executive Vice President of Sustainability, Communications and Brand, Suzano, said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to addressing nature loss through collective action – noting the model could be replicated across the 11,000 square kilometers of conservation areas Suzano protects in the Amazon, Atlantic Forest and Cerrado biomes.

Xu Hao, Vice President of Tencent Sustainable Social Value, highlighted technology’s potential to redefine humanity’s relationship with the natural world. He emphasized that combining Tencent’s digital tools with on-the-ground expertise from Suzano and Ecofuturo can transform biodiversity innovations into practical conservation solutions and engaging public platforms.

Valeria Blos, Director of Ecofuturo, said the initiative builds on decades of work connecting people to nature. She called the partnership a transformative step that uses technology to inspire generations and strengthen biodiversity protection.
