Claro will offer Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as part of its managed cloud services, enabling organizations to take advantage of high performance, built-in security and lower costs.
Oracle and Claro have announced a partnership to offer Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services to public and private sector organizations and enterprises in Colombia.
Claro will become the host partner for an Oracle Cloud region in the country and offer OCI platform services with professional and managed services to help customers adopt cloud solutions.
In addition, to help improve its customer service and billing processes, Claro will migrate over 100 on-premises servers running mission-critical workloads to OCI.
A long-term partnership
The partnership will modernize the IT infrastructure and stimulate economic recovery in Colombia. This strategic alliance will enable Colombian companies in the public and private sectors to take advantage of lower local latency with closer points of presence, integrated security and lower OCI costs.

Claro Colombia will be the first company in the country to offer Oracle Cloud Infrastructure from one of its certified data centers as part of its managed cloud services.

Strengthening the ecosystem
“This project expands business opportunities in the country, especially for the IT area, as new scenarios will evolve to further develop the industry with the participation of trained professionals and experts who contribute to building new business 4.0. It will require technology suppliers, software developers, integrators and programmers. Cloud represents a great investment opportunity in Colombia and will allow this ecosystem to be energized and enriched,” said Borromei.
“This project provides new conditions and scenarios for new professionals in the technology sector and the business future development. Therefore, expanding the Oracle cloud through the joint sales force between Oracle and Claro is also a strategy for the IT ecosystem.”
Zenteno said: “First, there will be a joint go-to-market to collaborate on the Digital Transformation cycle for customers in Colombia. Claro will sell and offer services from OCI – Oracle’s cloud. Secondly, there will be migration of workloads from Claro Colombia and Claro Ecuador to OCI. And thirdly, there will be a cloud region hosted at Claro. This will happen a few months later, without harming Claro with the service offering and Oracle Cloud (OCI) as of now.”

Oracle and Claro have very high standards in terms of data security management for their customers.

When asked about process security, Borromei said: “At Oracle, we have a highly evolved information protection model that uses Machine Learning algorithms to provide service level agreements (SLAs) for platform availability and reliability.
“All our OCI services have been developed through a program that maintains the highest security standards in all dimensions. We have security levels ranging from perimeter services to data protection.
“Besides, all our customers choose the region they prefer to upload their data. If they choose the Colombian cloud region, they can be sure it will be processed locally. As for access, only users authorized by the instance administrator will be able to access it, meaning the customer.”
Having a cloud region in Colombia increases the agility of operations and provides flexibility to business models because it reduces the distance that data must travel and, therefore, will result in a reduction in latency, in communication times and allow users and companies to count on a better service.
