VMware opens office in Doha to support Qatar Vision 2030

VMware, an innovator in enterprise software, has opened a regional office in Qatar to support the country’s Vision 2030 transformation efforts and strengthen the level of support it can bring to customers across all verticals in the country.

Imad Sfeir, Country Director – Gulf, VMware.

The office, which already has some 20-plus members of staff led by Imad Sfeir, Country Director – Gulf, will also serve as the regional office for Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Yemen. The office is located in Qatar Financial Centre, The Gate, and will fulfil all the roles of a regional office including sales and pre-sales, customer support, technical support, and delivery.

The opening of the office underscores the importance of Qatar to VMware. The country is developing smart government initiatives and diversifying its economy as part of Qatar Vision 2030. With a booming natural gas sector, construction projects, and the FIFA World Cup just nine months away, Qatar’s GDP is projected to trend around US$195 billion in 2022, according to Trading Economics. Sectors including banking and finance, education, healthcare, and logistics are also developing rapidly.

Having a local presence in-country will help VMware to serve customers across all sectors, especially government, financial services and healthcare. It will also enable VMware to bring the full benefits of its latest solutions – including VMware Tanzu portfolio, VMware Cloud Foundation 4, and the new VMware Cloud Foundation Services – which will collectively help organizations in Qatar tap the full potential of modern applications, on any type of cloud and using any device.

Sfeir said: “We’re hugely excited to open our new Gulf office in Qatar, and to support public and private sector organisations on their transformation journeys. Qatar is home to a number of diverse industries and a wealth of innovation, from smart government initiatives to Digital Transformation projects in energy, banking and healthcare. We’re confident that being close to customers will enable us to strengthen our support of all such projects.”

VMware has already developed a strong track record of helping organisations in Qatar to transform with smart digital solutions. In 2020, Qatar Computing Research Institution (QCRI), the national research institute for computing, deployed cloud and networking solutions from VMware to boost its ability to support complex computer research and help drive Qatar’s knowledge economy.
