Veeam announces Backup-as-a-Service for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure

Veeam Software, a leader in data protection and ransomware recovery, has formally announced new offerings that merge the company’s robust backup and restore capabilities with the user-friendly design of Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS).

Available now for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure clients, the new offering named Cirrus by Veeam provides an agile, reliable and potent BaaS solution. This service enables organisations to streamline the management and administration of their backup operations, backed by Veeam’s resilient technology.

A revamped version of the BaaS offering is set to launch in Q1 2024. It will be accessible via Veeam service providers, the Microsoft Azure marketplace and Veeam’s online shop.

“450,000 customers trust Veeam to protect their business and keep it running, which has led us to become the number one global provider of data protection and ransomware recovery,” said Allan, CTO at Veeam. “We’re now giving customers those trusted capabilities: for Microsoft 365 and for Microsoft Azure – delivered as a service. Through this new BaaS offering, customers have increased flexibility in how they wish to use Veeam to protect their business, whether in the cloud, on-premises or in a hybrid model.”

Cirrus by Veeam originated from CT4, a company that crafted this cloud-native service using Veeam’s market-leading data backup and Ransomware Recovery platform. Clients now have several choices for managing their Microsoft 365 and Azure data through Veeam:

  • New Cirrus by Veeam: Provides a smooth, straightforward SaaS experience without the burden of handling infrastructure or storage.
  • Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure: Enables companies to deploy Veeam’s existing software solutions for Microsoft 365 and Azure data protection, while managing the infrastructure.
  • A backup service from a Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) partner: Developed on the Veeam platform, this service includes unique value-added features tailored to the provider’s expertise.
