The US Department of War has launched an Artificial Intelligence Acceleration Strategy to extend America’s lead in military AI deployment and establish the US as the world’s undisputed AI-enabled fighting force.
Mandated by President Trump, the strategy unleashes experimentation, removes bureaucratic blockers and integrates frontier AI capabilities across every mission area to usher in a new era of military advantage.
“We will unleash experimentation, eliminate bureaucratic barriers, focus our investments and demonstrate the execution approach required to lead in military AI,” said Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. “We will become an AI-first warfighting force across all domains.”
The Department is adopting a wartime delivery model centered on three tenets: warfighting, intelligence and enterprise operations. This model strengthens battlefield decision-making, accelerates intelligence conversion and modernizes daily workflows in direct support of more than three million Department personnel.
Execution will be driven by seven pace-setting projects, each with a single accountable leader and aggressive timelines. These initiatives set a new standard for rapid AI deployment.
Warfighting efforts include Swarm Forge, Agent Network and Ender’s Foundry to advance AI-enabled combat concepts, battle management and simulation.
Intelligence priorities include Open Arsenal and Project Grant to compress timelines from insight to action.
Enterprise initiatives include GenAI.mil and Enterprise Agents to deliver secure access to frontier models.
The strategy expands AI compute infrastructure, unlocks mission-critical data and attracts American AI talent through programs such as Tech Force.
Small empowered teams will integrate AI at speed and deliver mission-first systems that ensure decision superiority and warfighting advantage.
