Canadian Solar says e-STORAGE, its energy storage division, has signed a supply agreement with a major US. utility to deliver a 500 MW/2,493 MWh DC battery energy storage system designed to support growing data center power demand and enhance grid resilience.
The project will deploy approximately 500 SolBank 3.0 battery containers, with battery cells manufactured across Canadian Solar’s global production network. Shipments are scheduled to begin in March 2027 and conclude by July 2027, ensuring timely deployment aligned with infrastructure expansion timelines.
This large-scale battery energy storage system underscores Canadian Solar’s role in addressing rapidly rising electricity demand driven by Artificial Intelligence workloads and hyperscale data center growth. By strengthening regional grid capacity, the project enables more stable and reliable energy delivery for high demand digital infrastructure.
e-STORAGE’s vertically integrated model and extensive utility scale experience position the company to execute complex projects efficiently while maintaining long term operational reliability. The solution is designed to help utilities and developers manage peak loads, improve energy flexibility and maintain consistent service performance.
Colin Parkin, President of Canadian Solar and e-STORAGE, said that the company is committed to supporting grid modernization as data center expansion accelerates. He emphasized that the SolBank platform and proven execution capabilities enable e-STORAGE to deliver dependable solutions on schedule, helping meet the evolving demands of the power system.
The agreement also reflects broader industry momentum toward integrating storage with generation assets to ensure reliability, reduce curtailment and support decarbonization targets across regional energy markets globally.
