Westbank First Nation selects Unit4 ERPx to advance its administrative modernisation strategy

Westbank First Nation (WFN), a self-governing Indigenous community in the Okanagan region near Kelowna, British Columbia, has selected Unit4 ERPx to advance its administrative modernisation strategy.

Westbank First Nation (WFN) has roughly 900 members and it operates under its own constitution and laws and is governed by an elected Chief and Council that oversees core departments such as health, education and economic development.

This project represents Unit4’s first ERPx deployment with a First Nation – an important milestone that highlights the company’s ability to support organisations operating in uniquely complex environments. First Nations like WFN combine elements of municipal, regional and federal governance, requiring diverse capabilities across taxation, utilities, grants and community services.

Awarding the contract to Unit4 in June 2026 for Unit4 ERPx underpins WFN’s ambition to adopt a modern, integrated platform that aligns with its goals to unify systems, reduce manual processes and enable more efficient, best practice-driven operations across the organisation.

ERPx is uniquely well suited to operational modernisation for organisations such as WFN because it is designed to move beyond ‘legacy systems’ into a more adaptive, insight-driven environment. ERPx delivers strong alignment with WFN’s modernisation strategy, unifying data for finance, procurement, projects and FP&A. WFN is also taking advantage of Unit4 Success4U to support the organisation through change and develop capabilities to replace fragmented tools and manual processes.

“We’re incredibly proud to partner with WFN on this transformational initiative,” said Greg Beaumont, Managing Director, Canada Public Sector, Unit4. “This is more than a technology project, it’s the start of a long-term partnership built on trust, collaboration and a shared vision for modern, efficient governance. We’re excited to support Westbank First Nation as they continue to grow and deliver exceptional services to their community and we look forward to building something truly meaningful together.”

WFN has expanded its services and infrastructure to support a growing community, placing strong emphasis on cultural heritage preservation while actively modernising its operations to ensure efficient and effective governance.

Operationally, WFN has a professional administration with dedicated departments for finance, taxation, IT, communications and more. For instance, the WFN IT Department plays a key role: it “ensures WFN employees stay connected and secure by delivering dependable technological solutions and expert support.” This includes maintaining reliable networks, devices and robust cybersecurity measures.

It issued a competitive procurement process in March 2025, explicitly stating it was “seeking qualified Software Providers…to provide an Enterprise Resource Planning system that meets or exceeds WFN’s needs.”

WFN was looking to modernise and streamline operations by replacing fragmented legacy systems, improving data access and visibility and establishing a unified, reliable source of information across the organisation. This underscores how WFN’s administration prioritises efficiency, Digital Transformation and up-to-date technology.
