Students, clinicians and researchers will work together on rapid technology projects addressing healthcare and medical education challenges through a new innovation hub supported by AWS.
Rutgers University and RWJBarnabas Health are launching a technology innovation hub designed to bring students, clinicians, researchers and technology specialists together to develop solutions for healthcare and medical education.
The Rutgers/RWJBarnabas Health Innovation Hub, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), will be based at the Health and Life Science Exchange (HELIX) in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Students studying medicine, engineering, computer science, business and other disciplines will participate in four-to-10-week rapid prototyping projects using Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence technologies.
The first cohort is expected to include up to five interdisciplinary teams working on requirements identified by Rutgers faculty and RWJBarnabas Health clinicians. Potential projects include clinical decision-support technologies, medical education, student health and wellness, hospital operations and health equity.
Students will receive access to AWS technologies, Cloud Computing credits and technical mentorship from AWS engineers.

The hub is expected to begin operating in autumn 2026.
