Aalyria has been selected by NASA to support enterprise service orchestration for the agency’s Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Program, beginning with the Polylingual Experimental Terminal (PExT) mission.
The California-based aerospace communications specialist will deploy its Spacetime platform within NASA’s operational cloud environment, providing a unified system for network scheduling, planning and resource management. The agreement supports NASA’s efforts to create more flexible and interoperable space communications networks across government and commercial infrastructure.
PExT is a technology demonstration designed to prove that spacecraft can seamlessly move between communications networks. Launched in July 2025 aboard York Space Systems’ BARD spacecraft, the mission has successfully demonstrated wideband terminal technology across NASA’s Tracking and Data Relay Satellite fleet and multiple commercial communications networks.
Brian Barritt, Founder, Aalyria, said the mission marked a significant step towards more dynamic space communications. He said Spacetime was developed to orchestrate real-time connectivity across multiple providers and networks, helping establish the foundation for future interoperable communications architectures.
As part of the contract, Aalyria will deploy a hosted Spacetime instance to NASA’s SCaN Program Operations Cloud (SPOC). The company will support the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, which developed the PExT payload, with software integration and validation activities.
Aalyria will also provide engineering and developer support for teams using Spacetime’s open-source application programming interfaces. Additional work includes extending the platform’s Federation API for space relay scheduling across commercial networks and developing new interfaces to support future missions.
The award builds on Aalyria’s existing work with NASA and the Defense Innovation Unit.
