NTT establishes its Bangkok 2 Data Center as an international network exchange hub

NTT’s Bangkok 2 Data Center, described by the company as the first purpose-built data center in Thailand, is set to become a hub for international network exchange.

NTT, a leading global technology services company, has announced its successful partnerships with Japan Network Access Point (JPNAP) and Bangkok Neutral Internet eXchange (BKNIX) to uplift NTT’s Bangkok 2 Data Center to become a hub for international network exchange.

NTT has developed an ‘international link’ with JPNAP’s data centers in Tokyo and with BKNIX Point of Presence (PoP), which was installed at NTT’s data center in Thailand.

NTT Thailand’s partnership with JPNAP, the leading Internet Exchange Point service provider in Asia, aims to create an Internet exchange linkage that will empower Internet Service Providers, Cloud Service Providers and educational institutions among others, with unlimited access to international-level content.

NTT also collaborated with BKNIX, Thailand’s first neutral IXP service provider, to install a new PoP at Bangkok 2 Data Center to serve as a hub for content and Internet traffic exchange.

Bangkok 2 Data Center can accommodate ultra-high-heat servers that consume 20kW or more power, such as Graphics Processing Unit servers. The center also adopted 2N Power System with Active-Active technology that guarantees a supply of electrical power, to enable a 100% service-level agreement. With these innovations, customers can easily access large-volume traffic exchange services on existing networks through Bangkok 2 Data Center.

Sutas Kongdumrongkiat, CEO for NTT in Thailand, who is also responsible for its operations in Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, said: “We’re pleased to be a part of this initiative to help drive the efficiency of Internet connectivity on an international level. With connectivity being paramount to business success, we hope this will unlock greater value for partners and providers, as they capture emerging market demands in today’s digital economy.”

Ryuichi Matsuo, NTT Ltd.’s Executive Vice President for the Global Data Centers division, said: “Through our partnerships with JPNAP and BKNIX, we’re confident about the benefits our global data centers will bring to NTT clients and partners. Leveraging strengths in network carriers and its technical integration expertise, NTT delivers premium data center platforms around the world, giving our clients the power to deploy advanced services at the right place, with the right performance and support.

“NTT’s capabilities and our full stack services are the foundation for thousands of successful business initiatives. In 2021, we’ll continue to expand new data centers in Indonesia, the US, Germany, the UK and Spain.”

NTT’s Global Data Centers division operates a data center platform spanning 20 plus countries and regions with over 500,000 square meters of colocation space across the world.

Bangkok 2 Data Center is the first purpose-built data center in Thailand. It has a total server room space of 3,800 sqm (approximately 1,500 racks). All the facilities are fully redundant and the facility configurations are flexibly customizable to meet a variety of needs.

This data center includes office space for use during Business Continuity planning.
