Embratel launches innovative solution for grain monitoring in agribusiness

Technology generates greater efficiency, economy and control for grain storage.

Embratel has launched Smart Silo, an innovative solution for monitoring grains in silos.

The new offering is a unique combination of IoT devices, Big Data and AI capabilities – all stored in the Cloud.

The Smart Silo is pitched as presenting the necessary indicators for the control of environmental conditions of the grain storage sites, enabling greater quality and durability, in addition to avoiding losses and possible accidents caused by the emission of gases by the grains or by human errors.

Developed in partnership with Telemática Sistemas Inteligentes, the Smart Silo claims much more accurate and broader measurements of the indicators necessary for the storage of grains in silos to be carried out successfully. Among the indicators are the quality of the grain – by measuring the concentration of CO2 in the silo – volume and tonnage, temperature – using only sensors without the need for cables – and humidity levels. The collected data is recorded on a web platform to allow access to information in real time.

This data generates insights and alerts that are critical to the day-to-day decision-making process of storage.

In this way, producers can have more efficiency in operations, with traceability and quality assurance of production, as well as optimization and operational and logistical planning.

“Embratel’s new solution automates the activities for the control of grain storage, which today is still carried out manually by professionals who need to climb to the top of the silos to carry out the measurements – and only in an estimated way,” said says Eduardo Polidoro, Director of IoT Solutions, Embratel.

The Smart Silo is designed to be easily deployed as an all-in-one solution used by producers who also lack IT knowledge.

“We are very happy to take this innovation to the field and create a new stage in the transformation of agribusiness,” said Polidoro.

The digitalization of the entire grain ecosystem becomes a reality thanks to AI and Big Data resources for data analysis collected by IoT equipment and sensors.

The control panel shows information in real time and as an online self-diagnosis system capable of issuing alerts in the face of changes in parameters that are out of the routine.

By recognizing metrics higher or lower than what is considered ideal for each product, Smart Silo automatically notifies grain producers so they don’t experience crop losses.

“Embratel is very happy to be part of another stage of the agribusiness journey and to bring more efficiency and digitalization to the field, said Adriano Rosa, Executive Director, Embratel, highlighting that the new technology will be a watershed for the reduction of problems related to storage deficit, which seriously impact the financial performance of the crops.

“We are seeking to offer an innovative solution to the market that will support greater productivity and profitability for Brazilian producers.”
