Syniverse implements IPX network for Cable & Wireless Seychelles

Syniverse announced it has signed an agreement to enable Cable & Wireless Seychelles to offer global LTE reach to both inbound and outbound roaming subscribers. The agreement marks a critical step in Cable & Wireless Seychelles’ ability to provide the highest quality service in a tourism driven roaming market.

“LTE is becoming a standard for service that people increasingly expect to access anytime, anywhere. With our location in one of the world’s top ten fastest-growing countries for tourism, this seamless level of service is essential,” said Jack Maher, Roaming Marketing Manager, Cable & Wireless Seychelles.

“Our relationship with Syniverse ensures that we fulfil our consumers’ expectations for global LTE services whilst also providing travellers from all over the world with a smooth and reliable mobile broadband experience in Seychelles on Cable & Wireless, Africa’s first LTE-Advanced network.”

Global LTE brings a host of challenges when it comes to interoperability among mobile operators. It involves a complex undertaking that requires testing to ensure the quality of processes, clearing and settlement, and customer experience protection between one LTE network and another. A crucial part of this involves the deployment of an IPX network, the network backbone that makes LTE roaming possible, and Diameter, the industry-standard signalling protocol for messages from mobile devices, and the management of proper routing and delivery of Diameter signalling messages.

Syniverse’s IPX Network Solution, along with its Diameter Signalling Service, connects Cable & Wireless Seychelles to global networks to make global LTE possible. The IPX Network Solution provides a carrier-grade connection to the company’s all-IP network, which currently serves more than 2,300 LTE routes and LTE reach to more than 325 operators in nearly 130 countries, including direct and indirect connections.

“With LTE connections expected to reach 2.5 billion globally, as noted by the GSMA, we understand the imperative for Cable & Wireless to implement LTE flawlessly,” said Nour Al Atassi, Regional Vice President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Syniverse. “Syniverse has been at the forefront of LTE implementation to ensure that mobile service providers can integrate all their services through one connection, and we are committed to using our expertise to help Cable & Wireless Seychelles deliver the highest level of LTE service to its customers.”

Syniverse’s agreement with Cable & Wireless Seychelles builds on a long-standing customer relationship that began in 2008 with the implementation of data clearing services that are offered within Syniverse’s Revenue Management portfolio. In addition, the relationship has included the use of Risk Management services and GRX services. Moreover, Syniverse’s work with Cable & Wireless Seychelles adds to a number of recent LTE accomplishments around the globe. Over the past year, Syniverse has announced that it is using its IPX Network to power global LTE reach for Ooredoo in Oman, Telin in Indonesia and the world’s first Voice over LTE roaming services among operators in Asia.

Syniverse is a global transaction processor that connects more than 1,500 mobile service providers, enterprises, ISPs, OTTs in nearly 200 countries and territories. Cable & Wireless Seychelles is part of Cable & Wireless Communications, a group of businesses operating in 16 markets worldwide.
