Guidance Software to present EnCase at security summit in Egypt

Guidance Software, the makers of EnCase, the gold standard in forensic security, have announced their participation in the fifth Regional Cyber Security summit to be held from October 30 to November 01 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Guidance will use the event as a platform to educate enterprises and government organisations on the need to deploy security solutions that go beyond protecting just the perimeter.

It will highlight the capabilities of their endpoint data security and digital forensic solutions including EnCase Endpoint Security, EnCase Endpoint Investigator, EnCase eDiscovery and EnForce Risk Manager.

Commenting on the importance of a holistic approach to security that addresses the entire network, Helmi Landosi, Territory Sales Manager Africa and Middle East, Guidance Software, says, “Loss of sensitive data and disruption to IT systems is one of the greatest risks that organisations in Africa and Middle East are facing today. Adding to this vulnerability, are the rising frequency of attacks, growing costs of remediation, and lengthening time-to-response.”

“Detecting and preventing attacks today, starts with deploying multiple layers of defense. Organisations need to move away from a myopic focus on perimeter security and take a proactive approach to tracking down any warning signs of unauthorised or unusual behavior within their networks with endpoint detection and response technology.”

On the third day of the conference, Helmi and Yasser Anter, Senior Solution Consultant Africa and Middle East, will conduct a technical presentation on EnCase Endpoint Security. Designed to enable cybersecurity professionals to proactively address critical gaps in their security framework, the effectiveness of EnCase Endpoint Security lies in its ability to accelerate the detection of malicious activity and remediate it before it can cause irreparable damage or loss of sensitive data.

Key benefits of the solution include:

# Faster detection

This creates a baseline of endpoint activity enabling both a historical record that can be used to recreate how a breach occurred as well as the ability to detect anomalous activity indicative of an undetected compromise

# Quicker Response

This enables security teams to accelerate response time to network security breaches and significantly reduce the risk of serious data loss and associated liabilities

# Effective Recovery

Once malware or a risk of sensitive data is exposed and identified, EnCase Endpoint Security lets security teams take definitive action and remove any reliance on traditional remediation processes like wiping and reimaging, which results in costly system downtime, loss of productivity and potential revenue loss

# Continuous Monitoring

Real-time continuous monitoring capabilities provide the necessary level of visibility and depth of reach required to deliver this capability across all network endpoints in a highly-scalable manner

“Computer Emergency Response Teams CERTs, in any country are the first line of defense when breaches and disasters happen. This event, which brings together key security decision makers from leading regional and global enterprises and government security organisations such as the International Telecommunication Union, ITU Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center and Oman CERT, provides us with a platform to showcase how our solutions can help security teams detect, respond to and remediate threats quicker and as such ensure that their organisations’ most valuable information and assets are safe and secure,” concluded Helmi.

The makers of EnCase, the gold standard in forensic security, and EnForce, an automated cyber risk management platform, Guidance provides a foundation of leading applications that offer deep visibility across all endpoints, devices and networks, allowing proactive identification and remediation of threats.

The Regional Cyber Security Summit comes this year with the theme of Boundless Collaboration, Boundless Protection. It focuses on the cooperation in cybersecurity as one of key pillars to tackle the complexity and the scalability of the main challenges of today’s cyber threats.

The Regional Cybersecurity Summit has been conducted for the last four years under the umbrella of ITU-ARCC in Oman to share experiences, knowledge, learn from international best practices, get insights on recent updates and collaborate to enhance organisations’ cybersecurity.

The Summit will be hosted by National Telecom Regulatory Authority in Egypt from 30 Oct to 1 Nov 2016 at Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh Resort and will be followed by the first Arabic and African Regional Symposium for two days from the 2nd to 3rd November 2016. The Summit is attracting over 300 senior ICT and cyber security officials from the Arab and African regions to discuss, formulate strategic directions and plans to tackle emerging threats to the global and regional information security sector.

The summit also provides a platform to network with well-known organisations such as ITU, OICCERT, FIRST, Africa CERT and AICTO and other decision makers & government authorities from more than 77 countries.
