Sparkle opens new PoP in Aqaba, Jordan

Sparkle, a leading international service provider in Italy and among the top 10 global operators, has announced the opening of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Aqaba, Jordan, in cooperation with Naitel, an integrated Jordan based operator with proprietary data centres and a nationwide network.

Located close to the Red Sea, Aqaba has the potential to become a gravitational hub in the Middle Eastern region, leveraging on Naitel’s open data centre and on Sparkle’s international state-of-the-art network and Tier 1 global IP backbone Seabone, to deliver top performance connectivity and IP Transit to the Jordanian market as well as to neighbouring countries.

“We are very proud of this new initiative that strengthens Sparkle’s positioning in the Middle East,” said Mario Di Mauro, CEO of Sparkle.

“The new Aqaba PoP marks a further step towards the consolidation of our company as leading network provider also beyond the Mediterranean basin, providing its customers premium diversified connectivity solutions.”

Sparkle also announced the launch of a new cross border optical fibre link directly connecting Ljubljana with Milan, alongside Telekom Slovenije, a leading comprehensive communications service provider in Slovenia.

The new link provides a short and alternative route from the Balkans – with access options from Ljubljana, Sofia and Istanbul – to Milan and other major hubs in Western Europe, catering the needs of Balkan and Middle Eastern operators as well as of international OTTs, ISPs and content providers looking for diversified and reliable capacity solutions.
