Danish IT giant KMD takes public sector to the cloud with SAP and Microsoft

Danish IT powerhouse KMD, a subsidiary of NEC Corporation, has announced it is migrating its KMD Opus platform to SAP S/4HANA Cloud via the RISE with SAP programme on Microsoft Azure.

The move will provide long-term stability and access to cutting-edge technologies for KMD Opus users.

Jan Gaardboe Jensen, Senior Vice President at KMD, said the agreements with SAP and Microsoft will ensure a secure and compliant cloud setup, ultimately enhancing the quality of their public administration solutions, including payroll, debtor and finance management.

KMD, a major player in Denmark with a European presence, develops IT solutions for municipal, state and business sectors. The migration of its core ERP system, KMD Opus, used by thousands of Danish public sector employees, will enable the development of a new user interface with increased AI integration.

“For the past 27 years, KMD and SAP have worked together to digitise the public sector,” said Mikkel Stavnsbo, Managing Director, SAP Denmark.

“It’s exciting to see KMD embark on its next chapter with a focus on new innovative technologies and automation with cloud services from SAP, such as AI. The shift to the cloud unlocks more opportunities for us to work together to contribute to an even better run society,” he added.
