CzechInvest has announced an additional call for Technology Incubation, the country’s largest programme supporting innovative young companies.
To date, 260 Czech startups across seven specialised technology hubs have been promised CZK 646.4 million in funding.
Technology Incubation targets early pre-seed companies in sectors where access to capital is limited and commercial financing is often unavailable. The programme combines financial and non-financial support with investor connections that have already unlocked CZK 577.9 million from private sources.
On the strength of these results, the project is being extended by one year and the original CZK 680 million budget increased by CZK 100 million to further strengthen the Czech business environment.
CzechInvest has supported startups beginning entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship since 2010. Technology Incubation is its most ambitious initiative to date. The original goal was to support 250 domestic companies between 2022 and 2027 and accelerate development and market entry. With the new call, up to 280 projects may be incubated through 2028.
The programme focuses on seven areas: Artificial Intelligence, advanced materials, mobility, creative industries, space technologies, ecology and the circular economy and solutions that preserve protect or improve life including medicine biotechnology and security technologies.
Since launch, 1,726 young companies have applied, representing nearly half of Czech startups. More than 70% of participants say the programme was critical to starting their business. On average, every third crown invested in development came from the project. Early participants have secured key investments earned domestic and international awards and are preparing for global market entry.
