Ericsson has unveiled major innovations across autonomous networks, AI-ready radio access networks and digital financial services, embedding AI throughout telecom infrastructure to accelerate Digital Transformation and unlock new revenue opportunities.

Ericsson has unveiled a series of major innovations spanning autonomous networks, AI-ready radio access networks RAN and digital financial services. Together, the announcements reinforce Ericsson’s strategy to embed AI across telecom infrastructure and platforms – accelerating communications service providers’ transformation while unlocking new revenue opportunities.

Microsoft and Ericsson bring enterprise-grade 5G laptop management to Windows 11

Ericsson has announced a major joint development with Microsoft in enterprise mobility: the integration of advanced 5G capabilities directly into Windows 11.

The collaboration delivers secure, policy-driven laptop connectivity designed to simplify how IT departments manage, protect and scale mobile PC fleets across global enterprises.

AI-driven 5G management built into Windows 11

The joint solution combines:

• Microsoft Intune device management
• Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect formerly Ericsson Enterprise Virtual Cellular Network EVCN

Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect is an AI- and cloud-analytics-powered platform that continuously monitors network quality and automatically optimises connectivity for performance and security.

By embedding AI-based 5G management directly into Windows 11, IT teams can:

• Automate device connectivity configuration
• Seamlessly switch between communications service providers CSPs
• Apply enterprise network policies remotely
• Enforce secure connectivity profiles at scale

The result is consistent, compliant and high-performance connectivity across all 5G-enabled enterprise devices with minimal manual intervention.

Simplifying cellular laptop adoption

Cellular-connected laptops have historically presented deployment and management challenges. The new integration removes key barriers by:

• Minimising manual setup
• Ensuring consistent user experience across regions and carriers
• Reducing IT operational overhead
• Delivering predictable, secure mobile connectivity

The solution builds on Microsoft and Ericsson’s longstanding collaboration to bring managed 5G connectivity to enterprise workspaces. Following successful multi-market pilots, the companies are now working with CSPs and global partners to deliver enterprise 5G bundles starting with:

• Microsoft 365
• Microsoft Intune
• Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect

Demonstration at MWC Barcelona 2026

At MWC Barcelona 2026, Microsoft and Ericsson will showcase:

• Remote network policy configuration with 5G prioritisation
• Automatic eSIM switching
• A local AI agent running on a 5G-enabled Surface device that makes real-time, context-aware connectivity decisions

These capabilities demonstrate how connectivity performance can be dynamically optimised to ensure smooth, reliable execution of high-value business workflows.

Agentic rApp as a Service on AWS: advancing autonomous networks

Ericsson has launched Agentic rApp as a Service rApp aaS, built on Amazon Web Services AWS, to accelerate CSP progress toward Level 4 autonomous networks.

Available through AWS Marketplace, the new solution introduces Agentic AI for reasoning and workflow coordination in network optimisation, alongside a Generative AI-powered natural language interface that allows CSP teams to ‘talk’ to the network – translating human language into optimisation instructions.

Hosted on AWS, rApp aaS connects to the Non-Real-Time RAN Intelligent Controller Non-RT RIC within the Service Management and Orchestration SMO framework via the R1 interface defined by the O-RAN Alliance. The open architecture ensures interoperability while enabling scalable deployment without heavy upfront capital investment.

Field testing is underway with leading CSPs, including Vivo in Brazil, which is exploring AI-driven optimisation to enhance national network capacity and automation.

According to industry analysis from Omdia, few vendors have demonstrated production-level deployments with O-RAN compliant interfaces—and none offer a comparable rApp-as-a-Service model—positioning Ericsson’s launch as a significant differentiator.

Ericsson’s AI solutions already process more than 100 million AI inferences daily across 11 million cells serving over two billion subscribers. By combining its network expertise with AWS cloud and AI capabilities, rApp aaS delivers elastic, on-demand automation designed to simplify operations and accelerate autonomy.


AI-ready radios and RAN software for the AI era

Ahead of Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, Ericsson also introduced a new portfolio of AI-ready radios, antennas and AI-enhanced RAN software to meet growing demands from AI-powered and augmented reality AR devices.

1. AI-ready radio portfolio

The new lineup includes ten next-generation radios engineered for uplink-intensive, AI-driven traffic patterns. Highlights include:

• High-performance Massive MIMO radios such as AIR 3286 and AIR 3211
• Expanded uplink-focused radios including Radio 4891 and Radio 4458
• High-power triple-band radios – Radio 4488 and Radio 4464 – for network consolidation and RAN sharing
• Advanced TDD Massive MIMO radios including AIR 3267 and AIR 6492

These radios feature Ericsson Silicon with integrated neural network accelerators – programmable matrix cores within Ericsson’s Many-Core Architecture – boosting real-time AI inference at the site level and enabling fully distributed AI optimisation.

2. AI-powered RAN software

Ericsson introduced new AI-native capabilities to enhance spectral efficiency, reliability and latency performance:

• AI-managed Beamforming
• AI-powered Outdoor Positioning
• Instant AI-based coverage prediction
• Latency Prioritised Scheduler
• Low Latency Mobility

Together, these features can deliver up to seven times faster response times, supporting demanding AI and AR applications while improving overall network intelligence and efficiency.

3. High-performance antennas

Five new antennas – both interleaved and passive – improve spectrum utilisation and simplify site design. Built on a trio net design, the antennas enhance uplink performance, carrier aggregation and spectral efficiency while supporting flexible TDD and FDD Massive MIMO deployments.


Ericsson and Mastercard: expanding global digital money movement

Beyond network innovation, Ericsson has also announced a strategic collaboration with Mastercard to accelerate digital financial inclusion and reshape global money movement.

By integrating the Ericsson Fintech Platform with Mastercard Move, the partnership enables telecom service providers, banks and fintechs to expand digital wallet capabilities, launch new payment services and reach underserved communities.

Mastercard Move supports transfers across more than 200 countries and territories, connecting over ten billion endpoints in 150 currencies. Ericsson’s fintech platform operates in 22 countries, serving more than 120 million active users and processing over four billion transactions per month.

The collaboration simplifies integration through pre-integrated APIs, cloud-native deployment and compliance-ready infrastructure – reducing operational barriers and accelerating time to market. Initial rollout will focus on the Middle East and Africa, regions with strong demand for mobile money and interoperable payment services.
