Bitdeer signs US$4.7 billion Norway AI data centre deal

Bitdeer has signed a 16-year colocation lease and services agreement for 121MW of AI and high-performance computing capacity at its Tydal data centre campus in Norway.

The agreement, signed through subsidiary Tydal Data Center AS with Volta Tydal AS, represents approximately US$4.7 billion in contracted revenue over the initial term. An eight-year renewal option could increase the total contract value to around US$8 billion over 24 years.

Volta’s customer will be a leading AI lab, while Dell Technologies will serve as technology provider. The entire 121MW IT load will be configured to run NVIDIA GPUs.

The facility will be supported by an estimated 133MW of gross capacity and powered entirely by renewable energy. Bitdeer expects the data centre to achieve a power usage effectiveness rating of approximately 1.1.

Delivery is planned in two equal phases across four data halls. Phase one is targeted to commence on December 31, 2026, followed by phase two on March 31, 2027.

Bitdeer is also developing two additional data halls providing 47MW of gross capacity for future AI and HPC workloads during the second half of 2027.

Michael G. Potter, Chief Financial Officer, Bitdeer Technologies, said the agreement marked “a key milestone in Bitdeer’s evolution as a global AI infrastructure platform”.

The company said the project would combine NVIDIA GPU technology with Norway’s reliable renewable power resources, supporting its ambition to establish the country as a major European destination for sustainable AI computing and strengthen Europe’s rapidly expanding infrastructure for advanced artificial intelligence workloads.
