HITEC Power Protection launches PowerPRO3 Dynamic UPS

A new generation of No-Break Power, engineered to remove downtime risk.

Rising power demands across data centres and other mission-critical environments are driving the need for greater capacity without increasing infrastructure footprints.

HITEC Power Protection is addressing that challenge with its PowerPRO3 Dynamic UPS, which delivers up to 3,000 kVA of no-break power while retaining the same physical footprint as its predecessor.

The system uses a re-engineered Kinetic Energy Module that increases stored energy by more than 25%, providing higher power density alongside improved cost efficiency and enhanced sustainability.

Since its introduction in 2015, the platform on which the PowerPRO3 is built has been deployed in more than 140 installations globally, safeguarding critical systems such as high-value manufacturing processes, semiconductor fabrication, radar infrastructure, financial services, hospitals and data centres.

Over the past decade it has become renowned for reliability, operational resilience and its ability to deliver true uninterruptible power with outstanding performance and efficiency.

This new model, the PowerPRO3, builds directly on this proven foundation.

“The PowerPRO3 is a clear statement about where mission-critical power is heading. More capacity, lower cost per kW and a clear route to lower-carbon footprint operation, all without asking our customers to compromise floorspace or compatibility. It represents more than a decade of field experience distilled into one confident step forward”, says Leo Schouten, CEO, HITEC Power Protection.

Engine technology

Recent developments in the latest Cummins G-Drive engine series created an opportunity to rethink the performance envelope of the PowerPRO platform. These engines now deliver more power than the original no-break rating of the previous generation, prompting HITEC engineers to align UPS capacity with the engine’s maximum output.

Synchronising a Dynamic UPS’s no-break rating with the engine’s full capability drives two major customer benefits: lower cost per kW for the overall system and higher UPS power density within the same physical footprint.

Enhanced Kinetic Energy Module for increased no-break capacity

At the heart of this new generation is a re-engineered Kinetic Energy Module (KEM), the flywheel-based energy storage system central to HITEC’s no-break performance.

Retaining the same physical dimensions to ensure full backward compatibility for existing users, the engineering focus centred on optimising two variables: flywheel rotational speed and flywheel mass.

Following an extensive materials and endurance test programme, the enhanced KEM now stores more than 25% additional kinetic energy, increasing from 7.9 MJ to 10.7 MJ.

This enables the PowerPRO3 to deliver up to 3,000 kVA of power within the same footprint as its predecessor, fully matched to the performance of the latest G-Drive engines.

Operational value creation

The increased no-break capacity delivers several key advantages for operators seeking to improve efficiency, reliability and sustainability.

Extended Engine Start Delay (ESD) reduces reliance on engine starts, lowering fuel consumption, operating costs and emissions.

Improved resilience to transient loads and larger kinetic energy reserves allow smoother handling of dynamic loads across industrial and data-centric environments.

Future-ready scalability supports higher load profiles without additional infrastructure investment.

Optimised power density delivers more UPS power per square metre, a critical advantage for data centres and high-value manufacturing.

Sustainability and fuel flexibility

In line with HITEC’s commitment to lower-carbon energy infrastructure, the PowerPRO3 is certified for operation with 100% Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel. This offers customers a direct pathway to reducing net CO₂ emissions without altering system hardware.
