BNP Paribas has announced a five-year partnership with Google Cloud to accelerate AI adoption across its banking operations, while maintaining strict security and data governance controls.
The agreement expands the French banking giant’s access to Google Cloud’s infrastructure, Gemini AI models and Gemini Enterprise, supporting the development of intelligent agents capable of handling complex financial workflows.
Marc Camus, Group Chief Information Officer at BNP Paribas, said the partnership would provide greater flexibility in deploying AI technologies.
“Our role is to empower our businesses with the technology capabilities they need while maintaining a consistent framework for security and control. A multi-cloud and multi-model approach gives us the flexibility to select, for each case, the right model, infrastructure and level of control to meet our requirements for quality and security while delivering the best balance between cost and value. This partnership strengthens that approach and expands the options available to our businesses.”
Initial applications will focus on corporate and institutional banking, including credit assessments, trading, research and sales activities.
Google’s Gemini models will also be integrated into BNP Paribas’ existing Generative AI assistant, currently available to more than 65,000 employees.
The bank confirmed that sensitive information will remain subject to its established security requirements as AI deployment expands.
